Misunderstanding Motivation

Slice of cake

When it comes to achieving success, a common roadblock many encounter is a misunderstanding of motivation. Time and again, desired accomplishments go unfulfilled while a lack of motivation unfairly shoulders the blame. The mistaken belief that motivation is an external force required in order to make action possible is the greatest hindrance to realizing one's greatest accomplishments. Unlike influencers such as inspiration and enticement, motivation is a personal and internally driven process that requires dedication. Inspiration is the desire to make a cake. Enticement is a cake on display. Motivation is getting your ass up out of your chair and making the trip to get yourself a slice. If you insist on waiting for motivation to show you that you already know how to walk, you will never know what cake tastes like.
