Sometimes I have thoughts.

Sometimes I post these thoughts on my website for you to read. Sometimes you read them. This is generally referred to as "Blogging", which should not be confused with "Flogging", an activity I do not perform for free. Unlike my Blogging.

Enjoy It While You Can

Don't know how many more walks along the Goderich beach I'll get before winter takes over but I'll enjoy them while I can.

Destiny

Anybody else ever get the feeling they're destined for greatness and then remember they're not sixteen anymore?

After gym workout face

Back At The Gym

Gym Day 2. My body may take a while to catch up but my mind is already way ahead. Five things I have learned so far...

  1. Sweat from your forehead may do its best to to sting your eyes and blind you in an attempt to make you stop the insanity.
  2. Lowering your body to the ground is much easier than getting it back up again.
  3. Grunting and cursing are involuntary but necessary parts of the process.
  4. It is possible for individual muscle groups to hate you.
  5. My trainer is a sadist.

Time for a coffee, a shower, then off to work. Weather permitting, a walk later.

On A Roll

I'm getting up at 5:30am to go to the gym but it's 11:45pm right now and I am barbecuing a cheeseburger. That's just how I roll.

Walking under October green leaves

Green October Leaves

Blue skies and green leaves still on the trees. Don't think I have spent this much time on sidewalks since I was eight and got my first pair of strap-on roller skates.

Sunny, chilly walk

A Little Sun, A Little Chill

It's a little chilly but I've got Timmie's and sunshine so a'walking I will go. Don't know how many more I will be lucky enough to get.

Sunday morning smiling coffee

Two Days Until Haircut Day

I got myself out of bed, into the shower, shaved, and dressed this morning. Anything else today is just icing. Two days until haircut day and I have to get a coffee mug that doesn't constantly remind me how cold it is.

Simple tune for a subdued Sunday: AC/DC "Who Made Who".

I Can’t Make Up My Mind

There's a difference between being decisive and being indecisive. I know I'm one of them; I just can't decide which one.

Day Three Of A Positive Streak

Run with the fun and enjoy the sun.
There may be storms on the 'morrow
but for today, shine your smile
even one you have to borrow.

Me in all my Saturday "Hell no, I ain't going outside and I'm not showering until after lunch time, either" glory.

A Simple Principle

I see the political, ethnic, gender, and every other possible combination of harassment, inequality, and entitlement controversy and can't help but feel it boils down to a very simple principle: Don't be a dick.

Grandmotherly Advice

It's on cold nights like tonight that I remember my grandmother telling me to always wear underwear when wearing pants that have a zipper. She was chock full of wise sayings like that. All I remember about my grandfather is that he had one testicle. Obviously, one of us wasn't listening.

Who You Gonna Tweet?

If a ghost was spotted in today's age of rampant social media, I would wager the Ghostbusters would receive more Tweets than phone calls. If so, would they still need the snarky receptionist? I suppose she could learn to maintain their Facebook page and online presence. Snapchat would definitely see an upswing in activity. Pics or it isn't sliming you or cooking eggs on your kitchen counter.

They’re Testing Me

Sometimes I know I'm a logical, free-thinking individual with valid opinions and important contributions to be made to the social fabric of our global wide social infrastructure. I know, like everyone else on this planet, I have a voice that matters and making it heard is paramount to our mutual success.

Just some times. The rest of the time I know it's the aliens testing me.

Blessing And A Curse

Bipolar is a blessing and a curse. The depression can be devastating, and as I get older, it can last way too long. But the up times, the "good" aspects of mania, I wouldn't trade for the world, because that's when I'm awesome. If I could just bottle that awesomeness and have it sitting ready on the shelf when I needed it, I would be set.

Even better is the fact that when I'm awesome, so are you. No one can accuse me of being an "awesome" hog. Go forth and spread your awesome. Just don't throw any colds or flu into the mix. That's not cool, and we're all cool. Right?

Today is the day that things get done. Most likely somewhere else and through someone else's efforts, but the important thing to remember is that they are getting done. At least, I think they are. I can't be bothered to look into it.

Ear flap hat and a smile

Four Facts For A Friday

This is me. In my house, with no plans of stepping foot outside. Four facts for a Friday...

  1. I abhor the cold (yes, I said "abhor" but I believe it's a fact I can't stress enough and thus warrants such strong, lofty language).
  2. I am not enjoying this whole "still dark outside" thing when I am not even getting up early anymore.
  3. There is an extension cord attached to a hairdryer, duct taped to my waist, blowing hot air down my pants (it only burns when I sit down).
  4. I need to get bigger coffee mugs.
  5. I abhor the cold.

OK, five facts, but number one was so strong I couldn't help but feel it warranted reiteration.

Stay warm out there and stay safe. Go buy one of these awesome ear-flap hats.

Getting Better

Things still aren't all that rosy but I'm feeling better today than I have been. I wrote a new poem during the lows and posted it in the poetry section.

It's called Beauty In The World.
