Gym Day 2. My body may take a while to catch up but my mind is already way ahead. Five things I have learned so far...
Time for a coffee, a shower, then off to work. Weather permitting, a walk later.
Morning track to sweat to: Talking Heads "Road To Nowhere".
Blue skies and green leaves still on the trees. Don't think I have spent this much time on sidewalks since I was eight and got my first pair of strap-on roller skates.
Music for memories and a stroll: Dream Weavers "My Definition Of A Boombastic Jazz Style".
I got myself out of bed, into the shower, shaved, and dressed this morning. Anything else today is just icing. Two days until haircut day and I have to get a coffee mug that doesn't constantly remind me how cold it is.
Simple tune for a subdued Sunday: AC/DC "Who Made Who".
Run with the fun and enjoy the sun.
There may be storms on the 'morrow
but for today, shine your smile
even one you have to borrow.
Me in all my Saturday "Hell no, I ain't going outside and I'm not showering until after lunch time, either" glory.
Song to stay in by: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch "Good Vibrations"
I see the political, ethnic, gender, and every other possible combination of harassment, inequality, and entitlement controversy and can't help but feel it boils down to a very simple principle: Don't be a dick.
It's on cold nights like tonight that I remember my grandmother telling me to always wear underwear when wearing pants that have a zipper. She was chock full of wise sayings like that. All I remember about my grandfather is that he had one testicle. Obviously, one of us wasn't listening.
If a ghost was spotted in today's age of rampant social media, I would wager the Ghostbusters would receive more Tweets than phone calls. If so, would they still need the snarky receptionist? I suppose she could learn to maintain their Facebook page and online presence. Snapchat would definitely see an upswing in activity. Pics or it isn't sliming you or cooking eggs on your kitchen counter.
Sometimes I know I'm a logical, free-thinking individual with valid opinions and important contributions to be made to the social fabric of our global wide social infrastructure. I know, like everyone else on this planet, I have a voice that matters and making it heard is paramount to our mutual success.
Just some times. The rest of the time I know it's the aliens testing me.
Bipolar is a blessing and a curse. The depression can be devastating, and as I get older, it can last way too long. But the up times, the "good" aspects of mania, I wouldn't trade for the world, because that's when I'm awesome. If I could just bottle that awesomeness and have it sitting ready on the shelf when I needed it, I would be set.
Even better is the fact that when I'm awesome, so are you. No one can accuse me of being an "awesome" hog. Go forth and spread your awesome. Just don't throw any colds or flu into the mix. That's not cool, and we're all cool. Right?
Today is the day that things get done. Most likely somewhere else and through someone else's efforts, but the important thing to remember is that they are getting done. At least, I think they are. I can't be bothered to look into it.
This is me. In my house, with no plans of stepping foot outside. Four facts for a Friday...
OK, five facts, but number one was so strong I couldn't help but feel it warranted reiteration.
Stay warm out there and stay safe. Go buy one of these awesome ear-flap hats.
